Gaikai has announced beta signups are now available for their cloud gaming demo & advertising platform.

Gaikai’s cloud-based gaming demo system is an attempt to modernize the tedium of demoing games to users. Demos have long been the major way to seal users purchases, but these days game demos can be almost as large as the full games themselves. This leads to multi-gigabyte downloads for a game with 10-20 minutes worth of gameplay.

Gaikai’s system aims to change that through a unique combination of Flash and Java web applications to stream game demos from Gaikai’s cloud servers. Control feedback is sent back in the cloud servers in real time as well. As one might imagine, this requires a very good internet connection.

The system has been in closed beta for several months. The opening of signups means anyone looking to advertise a game or demo one through Gaikai’s system can now sign up to become a beta tester, and test their game on the system. Take a look at Gaikai’s website for more information.
