Thecus announces new rackmount NAS

Thecus N8800Thecus today announced a new rack mount, eight drive 2U NAS.

The N8800 is powered by an Intel Celeron processor and 1GB of DDR2 memory and supports eight hot-swappable SATA drives that can be configured in RAID 0, 1, 5,6,10, and JBOD modes using either ext3 or ZFS file systems. SMB/CIFS, HTTP/HTTPS, NFS v3 and AFP network filesystem protocols are supported.

The N8800 can connect to and centrally manage up to five additional N8800s via iSCSI initiator and target support and manage them via a master system. Dual gigabit Ethernet ports can be configured in load balancing, failover and link aggregation modes.

Other features include full LAMP webserver, ISO mounting, Nsync remote data replication, dual redundant power supplies and USB print server. Media capabilities include iTunes, UPnP AV and Photo servers as well as surveillance recording from IP cameras.

The N8800 will be available by the end of this month at an MSRP of $1599.
