VIA adds Barebone NAS / Server

The VIA ARTiGO A2000 barebone storage mini-server measures 5.3" x 4.7" x 10.2") and is powered by a 1.5 GHz VIA C7-D processor. It supports up to 2GB of 667/533MHz DDR2 memory in a single SO-DIMM socket and has two 3.5" SATA bays with integrated power ports. A Type 1 Compact Flash socket is mounted under the motherboard.

The A2000 is aimed primarily at DIY NAS applications and includes a PCIe 10/100/1000 Ethernet LAN port and three USB 2.0 ports. Its VIA VX800 Unified Digital Media IGP chipset supports high definition audio I/O and a VGA port.

Supported OSes include Microsoft Windows XP and Vista, Ubuntu 8.04, SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 10 (Service Pack 2) and FreeBSD.

The ARTiGO A2000 will initially be available from selected online retailers from December 15th, including Bell Micro, EPRO-ITX, Fry’s Electronics and Logic Supply. Street pricing is $299.
