The Iomega StorCenter Pro ix4-100 runs EMC’s Linux-based LifeLine software on a 400 MHz CPU with 512 MB of RAM. Network connection is via a single 10/100/1000 Ethernet port and there are four USB 2.0 ports for storage expansion / backup, UPS shutdown and printer serving.
The NAS supports up to 4 TB in RAID 5, 10 and JBOD modes with hot-swappable 3.5" 7200 RPM SATA drives. SMB/CIFS and NFS network filesystems are supported along with Apple Bonjour and Active Directory.
Services include FTP, UPnP AV / DLNA, iTunes, Picture Transfer Protocol (PTP) and print serving for up to 4 USB printers. Also supported are up and download from Bluetooth devices (using a Bluetooth adapter, sold separately) and recording / monitoring of up to three Axis network cameras.
External USB drives can be formatted FAT32, NTFS or ext2/ext3 and HFS+ read only and used for capacity expansion. Unlimited client licenses for EMC Retrospect backup software are included as is 2 GB of MozyHome online backup.
The 2 TB StorCenter Pro ix4-100 is available now for $799.95, with the 4TB version coming later this month for $1,299.95 (both prices U.S. MSRP).
