The DS509+ has 5 hot-swappable bays, supports RAID 0/1/5/6 volumes and will be priced "under $1000".
Other new business models include the four-bay DS409+, 1U rackmount RS409+ and RS409+RP with redundant power. All these models will be available next month. Pricing was not provided.
A new single-bay DS109+ will also be available in May and a two-bay DS209+II will be available sometime this summer at yet-unannounced pricing.
The mid-level lineup includes DS109, DS209 and DS409 one, two and four-bay products. The DS109 will be out next month, with the others following in May. Synology did not provide pricing information.
For home and SOHO users, the single-bay DS109j and two-bay DS209j will begin shipments in April. No pricing information was given.
All of the new products will run Synology’s Disk Station Manager 2.1 OS with a feature set that includes CIFS, AFP and NFS network filesystems, FTP, secure FTP and HTTPs, LAMP webserving, iTunes and UPnP AV / DLNA media serving, photo sharing and more. The business and mid-level models also support AD / NT domains.
Synology is also introducing two eSATA storage expansion bay for the DS409+, DS509+, RS409+ and RS409RP+. The DX5 adds an additional five desktop bays of SATA storage and the RX4 adds four rackmount bays via a single eSATA connection. The additional drives can be used for RAID expansion and migration. Neither pricing nor availability were given for the DX5 and RX4.
