Thecus has announced two enterprise-focused rackmount NASes that accept SATA or SAS drives.
The Thecus N12000 and N16000 are built on Intel Xeon platforms with 12 and 16 hot-swap bays that accept either SATA III or SAS 6G 3.5" drives.
The 2U high N12000 uses a 2.93 GHz X3470 Processor with Intel 3450 chipset and 4 GB of DDR3 RAM, while the 3 U high N16000 sports a 3.06 GHz X3480 Processor with Intel 3450 chipset and 8 GB of DDR3 RAM.
Both have three PCI-e connected Intel 82574L Gigabit Ethernet LAN, six USB 2.0 and two USB 3.0 ports. The N12000 has one and the N16000 two eSATA ports. Both have hot-swappable fans and can be equipped with redundant power supplies.
The new NASes feature a 64 bit OS supporting multiple RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50, 60 and JBOD volumes with EXT3/EXT4/XFS selectable file systems and both dedicated and global hot spare, AES-256 bit volume encryption and online RAID level migration and expansion. Network file systems supported include SMB/CIFS, NFS v3 and AFP with additional file access via HTTP / HTTPS and FTP.
Other features include iSCSI target and initiator with thin provisioning and MPIO, MCS, Clustering and SCSI3 persistent group reservation, Active Directory support, email notification, user quotas, ACLs and more.
The N12000 and N16000 will start shipments this month at MSRPs of $5030 and $5920, respectively. Both come with 5 year limited warranties.
