Updated: QNAP has officially announced a new NAS series that it previewed at January’s CES.
The new TS-x69 Pro series will be available in 2, 4, 5, 6, and 8-drive versions. All are based on a dual-core 2.13 GHz Intel Atom D2700 "Cedar View" CPU, with 1 GB of DDR3 RAM and support hot-swappable 2.5 and 3.5" SATA drives.
Other hardware features include dual Gigabit Ethernet ports supporting aggregation and failover and USB 2.0, USB 3.0 and eSATA ports for storage expansion. An HDMI port is also included for HD video playback support, but won’t be active until a future firmware update.
The new series will run QNAP’s latest V3.6 firmware with features including VPN Server (OpenVPN and PPTP), LDAP Server, Squid Proxy Server, browser-based music and photo sharing and enhanced backup.
The new features are in addition to QNAP’s extensive base feature set that includes multiple volume support with optional encryption, iSCSI support and support for VMware, Citrix XenServer and Windows Hyper-V virtualization.
Shipments will start in "early April" with the following MSRPs:
TS-869 Pro 8-bay: $1199
TS-669 Pro 6-bay: $1099
TS-569 Pro 5-bay: $999
TS-469 Pro 4-bay: $849
QNAP did not provide pricing or availability for the two-bay TS-269 Pro.
