Synology logoQNAP has announced a NAS family supporting 4K UHD video and 10GbE.

The TVS-x71 series comes in 4, 6 and 8-bay desktop models and is powered by an assortment of Intel Haswell Pentium, Core i3, Core i5 and Core i7 processors.

All models come with at least 4 GB of DDR3 RAM (expandable to 16 GB total), have four aggregatable 1 Gbps Ethernet ports, three USB 3.0 ports and can be upgraded to 10GbE via optional PCIe cards. All models also have HDMI ports backed by Intel HD Graphics that support full 4K (H.264) and 1080p video playback and transcoding.

QNAP says the x71 series supports up to 2,300 MB/s throughput and 135,000 IOPS, making it suited for CPU-intensive applications such as virtualization, real-time 4K video playback and transcoding and serving large numbers of simultaneous connections.
