Backblaze has announced a new version of its cloud backup service that now allows unlimited file sizes.

The 2.0 "Performance Release" has removed the 9 GB filesize limitation and will now save any size file you care to back up. The company has also removed file type restrictions and will same ISO images, VMware and other virtual images and any other file type.

Other new features include an automatic throttle that adjusts backup speed priority when moving between different speed Internet connections, up to 25X faster backup for smaller files, larger drives for USB restores (1 TB vs. 500 GB) and improved large file backup.

Backblaze 2.0

New customers or existing customers who run the new installer will get the 2.0 version. Existing customers will be automatically upgraded over the next few weeks.

The price for version 2.0 remains at $5 per month per computer and includes backup of attached drives, but not networked shares or mapped drives. Sign up here if you’re not already a customer or read more about the new version.
