Synology is starting to Beta its next NAS OS.
Synology today kicked off its DiskStation Manager (DSM) 4.0 beta program. The new OS is being demoed this week in Synology’s CES booth.
Features of DSM 4.0 include a new Cloud Station feature, which essentially lets Synology NASes provide private cloud services. Synology is also adding free antivirus protection for NAS files.
Other DSM 4.0 beta features include a revamped user interface, updated iOS and Android apps and new Kindle Fire app, bundled iSCSI LUN backup software, enhanced ADS/ACL support with easier ACL audit and editing, improved notification system and enhanced Apple support including Airport Express/Extreme and iCloud integration.
Synology also said it will award DiskStations to three beta testers who provide the most valuable assistance and feedback during the program.
