QNAP Adds Cheaper Rackmount NASes and More

QNAP announced an "affordable" rackmount 10 GbE NAS, upgraded firmware and a few other things at CES 2013

The 2U rackmount TS-x70 Turbo NAS series kicks off with the 12-bay TS-1270U-RP and 8-bay TS-870U-RP. Both are based on an unspecified dual-core Intel 2.4 GHz processor with 4 GB of DDRIII RAM (expandable to 16 GB).

Other features common to both are dual aggregatable Gigabit Ethernet ports and options to add either four more Ethernet (total of 6) or four 10 GbE ports. There are also two USB 3.0 and four USB 2.0 ports.

Both the TS-1270U-RP and TS-870U-RP are available now. Pricing wasn’t mentioned.

QNAP is demonstrating its 3.8.1 NAS management firmware that features a new IP camera management module. It supports 1,400+ IP camera models and provides flexible camera access control, multi-server monitoring and apps for iOS and Android. Other improvements include a new user interface, new DJ Station, new Video Station, new TV Station and upgraded Photo Station and Music Station 3.

Also announced was a new tower VS-x100 Pro+ series Network Video Recorder, new NVR management software and digital signage products. Availability for these will be announced later.
