Acer’s Iconia Tab A500 Honeycomb tablet is now available for pre-order at Best Buy.

The Acer Iconia Tab A500 is the lastest announcement in the slew of upcoming Honeycomb-powered slates that aim to woo you with the perfect tablet experience. The Acer Iconia’s specs are certainly capable, with an Nvidia Tegra 250 1 Ghz dual Core CPU, 1 GB of RAM, and 16 GB of storage (a larger model is planned to have 32 GB inside). 802.11n WiFi is on hand to keep the Youtube and Netflix flowing. Two 3260 mAh Lithium Polymer batteries will power the whole system for up to eight hours, according to Acer.

Acer’s marketing is pushing heavily that the device can play 1080p video, although the device’s screen is only 1280×800 in resolution. Full 1080p video playback is only available via the built in HDMI port. A Micro-SD card slot is onboard to support the 1080p video content. Front and rear facing cameras make the tablet fully video chat capable, with the front-facing camera being spec’d at 2MP and the rear at 5MP.

The tablet itself weighs in at 1.69 lbs. and has a relatively slim figure at 10.24(w) x 6.97(d) x 0.52(h). This is about equivalent to the iPad 1 / Xoom, but isn’t going to catch the iPad 2. There will be a number of accessories available, including a dock which will add IR remote capability, a bluetooth keyboard, and the usual case sleeves. This will MSRP at $80, $70, and $40, respectively.

Acer is bundling several pieces of software, include Need for Speed: Shift, Clear.fi (a DLNA client), several reading applications and a trial version of Docs To Go for viewing MS Office Documents. All this Honeycomb-powered goodness will be officially available on April 14th for $449.99, although after seeing how Honeycomb performs, maybe we’ll take a pass on this until Google patches it up.
