TRENDnet logo TRENDnet announced a few changes for its HomePlug AV2 MIMO Gigabit powerline adapters.

The TPL-420E2K kit, one of the first HomePlug AV2 MIMO products based on Qualcomm’s QCA7500 chipset and announced at January’s CES, was shown this week at Computex. The product has been renamed from "Powerline 1000" to "Powerline 1200".

The good news is its MSRP has come down to $99 from the $169.99 announced in January and the adapter has gotten smaller. The bad news is that availability has moved out to September vs. this month.

The kit includes two adapters that have a Gigabit Ethernet port and are backward compatible with HomePlug AV 600, 500 and 200 products.

TRENDnet has added a second HomePlug AV MIMO product, the TPL-421E2K Powerline 1200 AV2 Adapter Kit with Built-In Outlet. This kit of two adapters lists for $10 more with each adapter sporting a pass-through AC outlet. It also ships in September. Both products carry a three-year warranty.
