ZyXEL Introduces Next-Gen UTMs

ZyXEL logoZyXEL has unveiled a new Unified Threat Management firewall family.

The new UTM (Unified Threat Management) product line includes the more powerful USG110, USG210 and USG310 Advanced Series and SOHO / SMB targeted USG40, USG40W, USG60 and USG60W Performance Series.

The USG40 and 40W have five Gigabit Ethernet ports and one USB 2.0 port and support dual-WAN and mobile broadband failover. The 40W has a 2.4 GHz 802.11bgn radio.

The USG60 and 60W have six Gigabit Ethernet ports and two USB 2.0 ports and support dual-WAN and mobile broadband failover. The 60W has 2.4 and 5 GHz radios for 802.11abgn Wi-Fi.

The USG110 and 210 have seven Gigabit Ethernet ports and two USB 2.0 ports to support multiple-WAN and mobile broadband failover. The top-of-line USG310 has eight Gigabit Ethernet ports and two USB 2.0 ports.

The feature set of the new USGs include IPSec, SSL and L2TP over IPSec VPN, Kaspersky SafeStream II gateway anti-virus, anti-spam and content filtering and deep-packet inspection for intrusion detection and malware protection.

All models also have an integrated CAPWAP-based WLAN controller for centralized authentication and access management of multiple ZyXEL APs. The USG110/210/310 can manage 2 APs by default, and up to 18 APs with license upgrade. The USG40/40W/60/60W can manage 2 APs by default, and up to 10 APs with license upgrade.

All of the new USG models use multi-core processors giving all except the entry-level USG40 firewall throughput exceeding 1 Gbps. All models identify, categorize and control over 3,000 social, gaming, productivity and other Web applications and behaviors and feature deep packet inspection for SSL traffic.

The redesigned user interface consolidates all security policies into a single location to provide a single point of control for firewall, IDP, anti-virus, content filtering and application control.

MSRPs for the USG Performance series range from $420 for the entry-level USG40 to $800 for the wireless-enabled USG60W. This pricing includes 1 year licenses of security services including AV, IDP, Anti-Spam, Content Filtering. This series is also available without licensing.

MSRPs for the Advanced series range from $900 for the USG110 to $2350 for the to-of-line USG310. Pricing includes 1 year licenses of security services including AV, IDP, Anti-Spam, Content Filtering. This series is not available without licensing.
