WD Adds New WD TV Live Player With More Internet Content

WD just announced a new member of its WD TV media player family.

The WD TV Live Plus HD media player includes all the features of the WD TV Live [reviewed] and adds more Internet content, most notably Netflix. The Plus includes the recently-released Netflix interface that enables members to browse, play and add movies to their Netflix instant Queue right from their TV.

Other Internet content supported by the Plus includes YouTube, Flickr, Pandora, Live365 and the MediaFly network. MediaFly provides daily podcasts from CNN, NBC, MTV, ESPN and more.

The Plus will play content stored on networked Windows and Mac OS computers, attached USB storage or NASes. The player supports also supports Windows 7’s Play To feature.

Playback is supported to HDMI 1.3, composite and component video and analog and SPDIF digital audio outputs. Network connection is via a 10/100 Ethernet port or optional USB Wi-Fi adapters. Local USB drives can be attached to two USB 2.0 ports, which also support USB hubs for additional drives.

A wide range of video formats is supported including MPEG2 MP@HL up to 1920x1080p24, 1920x1080i30 or 1280x720p60, MPEG4.2 ASP@L5 up to 1280x720p30 and H.264 [email protected] and [email protected] up to 1920x1080p24, 1920x1080i30, or 1280x720p60.

Audio and image formats supported include MP3, WAV/PCM/LPCM, WMA, AAC, FLAC, MKA, AIF/AIFF, OGG, Dolby Digital, DTS audio and JPEG, GIF, TIF/TIFF, BMP, PNG, respectively.

The WD TV Live Plus HD media player is available now at street pricing around $125.
