NETGEAR said it has improved performance and lowered prices on some of its ReadyNASes.

The company said new 4.2.17 firmware increases high-definition (HD) video playback and transfer speeds by more than 50 percent as measured by Intel NAS Performance Toolkit benchmarking. The new firmware also adds support for 3 TB drives to NETGEAR’s Intel Atom-based Ultra and Ultra Plus NASes.

NETGEAR has also lowered prices across its Ultra and Ultra Plus lines. The lowest MSRP for a two-bay Ultra (RNDU2000) is now $299. Pricing on the top-end 6 TB Ultra 6 NAS (RNDU6320) is now $1099.
