PROMISE Announces Thunderbolt RAID Storage

PROMISE Technology said it has the first RAID direct attached storage for Intel’s Thunderbolt bus.

PROMISE’s Pegasus comes in 4-bay (R4) and 6-bay (R6) models supporting RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 1 with hot spare, RAID 5, RAID 50, RAID 6, RAID 60 and RAID 10 modes

Both Pegasus enclosures have two Thunderbolt ports, aluminum enclosures and smart fans for reduced system noise. They will require Mac OS 10.6.6 or higher.

Pegasus will start shipments sometime next quarter. Pricing was not announced.

The StorCenter Pro NAS 150d Server runs Linux on a 400MHz CPU with 128 MB RAM and has a gigabit Ethernet LAN and four USB 2.0 ports. It supports RAID 0, 1 5 and JBOD modes, has a built-in print server supporting up to four USB printers and comes in 1 and 2 TB configurations.
