Thecus Beefs Up Its Seven Bay NAS

Thecus today announced a new, more powerful version of its seven-bay desktop NAS.

The N7700PRO is based on an Intel Core 2 Duo CPU with 4 GB of DDR2 800 memory and dual Gigabit Ethernet ports supporting load balancing, failover and 802.3.ad aggregation modes. Thecus says that an optional 10 GB Ethernet adapter can be added via a single PCI-e slot. Storage expansion and attached backup is supported via four USB 2.0 and one eSATA ports.

The N7700PRO has the same feature set as the original N7700, including multiple RAID 0, 1, 5,6,10,JBOD volumes with hot swap and spare and online RAID expansion and migration, iSCSI target an initiator, Ext3, XFS and ZFS filesystems and SMB/CIFS, HTTP/HTTPS, FTP, NFS v3 and AFP network file protocols.

The N7700PRO will be available in mid-November at an MSRP of $1019.
