Thecus has announced a new Intel i3 based rackmount NAS.
The N8900 is based on a dual-core Intel Core i3-2120 processor with 8 GB of DDR3 memory and Thecus’ Dual DOM flash memory.
Eight hot-swappable bays support up to 3 TB SATA or SAS drives that can be configured into multiple Ext3, Ext4, and XFS formatted RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50, 60 or JBOD volumes with optional AES-256 bit encryption.

Other hardware features include three Gigabit Ethernet ports supporting failover and link aggregation, two USB 3.0 ports, one eSATA port, analog audio output/input, and an HDMI port.
Further expansion is supported via three PCI-e slots (one 4-lane and two 8-lane), which can be used to add additional USB 3.0 or eSATA ports or a 10 Gb Ethernet adapter.

The N8900 runs Thecus’ V5 OS with features including iSCSI target and initiator with thin provisioning and MPIO/MCS and clustering support.
The N8900 is shipping now at a $2999 MSRP.
