Thecus has announced three Intel-based tower NASes.
The TopTower N6850, N8850 and N10850 are Thecus’ new top-end tower format NASes with six, eight and ten hot-swap bays, respectively, supporting 3.5" SATA drives.
All three are based on Intel CPUs, the N6850 using a dual-core 2.6 GHz Pentium G630 with 2 GB of RAM, the N8850 a 3.3 GHz Core i3 2120 with 4 GB of RAM and the N10850 running a quad-core 3.1 GHz Xeon E3-1225 with 4 GB of RAM.
Each of the new models comes with dual Gigabit Ethernet ports supporting aggregation and failover and two PCIe 8 lane slots that can accept an optional 10 GbE adapter. Other hardware features include four USB 2.0 and four USB 3.0 ports, HDMI output, mic input, line input and audio output.
Software features for all models include Data Burn to optional optical drives, McAfee bundled antivirus, cloud backup to DropBox and ElephantDrive, multi volume/multi filesystem support, iSCSI thin provisioning, RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50, 60 and JBOD volumes (no RAID 60 on the N6850) with RAID migration and expansion and AES 256 bit volume encryption.
The TopTower N6850, N8850 and N10850 start shipping in May at MSRPs of $1700, $2145 and $2480, respectively.
