The 200rL Series is Iomega's first attempt at adding a Linux-based (Debian) offering to its Windows Storage Server-based Small / Medium Business NAS product line. The 200rL comes in 1, 2 and 3 TB configurations in a 1U rack-mount format. We tested the 3 TB version.
Last month, Synology officially released its Disk Station Manager 2.0 firmware for its Disk, Cube and Rack Station NAS product lines. DSM 2.0 features a new AJAX-based user interface and a host of other features. DSM 2.0 also is supposed to provide improved throughput, so we agreed to retest a CS407 Cube Station to verify Synology's claims.
Updated 3/30/2008 La Cie's 2big Network is the company's first real dual-drive RAID 1 NAS. Compared to its competition, the 2big's feature set is bare-bones with no media or print serving supported.
