D-Life is a combination of products and website (www.d-life.com) that were announced at January’s Consumer Electronics Show and are designed to be easier to configure and use for networking novices.
The Internet Surveillance Starter Kit (DHA-390) consists of an Internet camera and two powerline networking adapters and provides live video monitoring over the Internet from any web browser. Also offered is the Internet Surveillance Expansion Kit (DHA-310) with camera and single Powerline adapter.
The cameras are fixed focus with automatic brightness and exposure control, and have a 1/4" CMOS 0.5 lux image sensor with 640 x 480 pixel resolution. Image sizes and frame rates are VGA (640×480) up to 30fps and QVGA (320×240) up to 30fps with MPEG-4/MJPEG compression.
Setup consists of establishing an account at the D-Life website and entering two product ID numbers that are located on each device. Camera features include motion-triggered snapshots saved to the D-Life server with email alerts, shared access (with other D-Life users) and monitoring of up to four cameras simultaneously.
The Internet Surveillance Starter and Expansion Kits are available now from D-Link’s online store, D-LinkShop (www.dlinkshop.com) with MSRPs of $499.95 and $399.95, respectively. Both products will be made widely available through D-Link’s network of retail, etail and catalog partners beginning later this year.
